Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Please join us in Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month on March 11, 2020
Event: Celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Location: Capitol Rotunda - Frankfort, KY
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. EST
Guest Speakers: Rocky Adkins - Governor Office Senior Adviser & Allison Ball - State Treasurer
This event will showcase stories of Kentuckians with developmental disabilities. We will be opening the floor to Executive and Legislative leadership to share their support.
We believe that disability is a natural part of the human experience that does not diminish the right of individuals with developmental disabilities to live independently, to exert control and choice over their own lives, and to fully participate in and contribute to their communities through full integration and inclusion in the economic, political, social, cultural, and educational mainstream of society.

The Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities (CCDD) was established in October 1971 to fulfill the Developmental Disabilities and Bill of Rights Act (the DD Act). CCDD is made up of 26 members appointed by the Governor and includes state agency representatives as defined in KRS 41.410. As part of 56 national state and territory Councils on Developmental Disabilities, the Council receives a federal formula grant from the Department of Health and Human Services every three years. The funds are used to fund and initiate programs and projects that fulfill the mission of the Developmental Disabilities Act for individuals with developmental disabilities.
